This is a download pack of sheet music, lyrics and a midi file which will help you make a folk band arrangement of the traditional song "Sovay".


I've made an example recording of the sort of thing you can do with it, which is also included in the download.

There's also a "karaoke" version - just the backing without the vocal, for singers to use in the absence of a band.

As you'll hear from the recording, this song may be a little trickier than some of my other arrangements. The notes themselves are not hard to play, but as the original melody is in irregular and frequently changing time signatures, there is quite a lot of counting and listening to be done when learning this particular piece of music. Hopefully you'll enjoy the challenge!

Riff 3: instrument 2 plays instrumental solo. Bass part continues.

Verse 5: Vocal melody, bass
Instrumental verse: instruments 1+2 play vocal melody and harmony lines, bass

Verse 6: Vocal melody, instrument 1 plays instrumental solo part. Bass stops
Verse 7: Vocal melody + harmony, instruments 1+2, bass starts again

Riff 4: Instrument 1 plays riff, instrument 2 plays instrumental solo part

Instrumental verse: Instrument 2 plays vocal melody line, instrument 1 plays instrumental solo part.
